The Carry-on Challenge

At some point I’m sure you will hear the term “carry-on Challenge, this just means that we encourage all our travelers to only travel with baggage that they can bring with them on the plane to save on time checking our bags and it also takes the chance of lost luggage out of the equation. This is only an issue when flying to our destination, you will be able to check bags for our flight home. We recommend packing an additional duffle bag for checking your dirty clothes for the trip home while you carry-on your valuables and souvenirs you acquire on your trip. Below you will find information from American Airlines on what we are allow to carry-on.

Carry-on: 1 personal item and 1 bag

Personal item

Your personal item must fit under the seat in front of you. Dimensions should not exceed 18 x 14 x 8 inches (45 x 35 x 20 cm ).

Basic Economy customers are only allowed 1 personal item. All other bags must be checked.

Diaper bags (1 per child), child safety seats, strollers and medical or mobility devices don’t count as your personal item or carry-on.

Carry-on baggage allowance is 22 inches high by 14 inches long by 9 inches wide

Carry-on requirements

  • Shouldn’t exceed 22 x 14 x 9 inches / 56 x 36 x 23 centimeters (including handles and wheels)
  • Must fit in the sizer at the airport

If your items don’t fit in the overhead bin or under the seat, they may need to be checked. There may be additional carry-on baggage restrictions at certain airports or on certain airplanes.

Musical instruments are also considered a carry-on item and must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.

Specialty and sports equipment policies 

In addition, when traveling with a pet, the kennel or container counts as your carry-on and the carry-on pet fee also applies.

Liquids

TSA allows certain duty-free liquids through security in your carry-on bag if they’re packaged in a security tamper-evident bag. If you’re traveling with liquids or are unsure about any item, please contact the TSA.

TSA liquids rule
